Three things I consider myself "working on"--one a joint project with some friends, a steampunk-ish novel about a secret library. Very much a book lover's book. :)
Also, a couple of fairy tales--one about a wicked nobleman with an enchanted golden heart, and one about a cursed dancing atomaton.
And my personal love, a superhero novel whose main male character refuses to speak to me. Grar.

Question 1: What started me writing was probably actually my sister. She wrote stories, and though she never let me read them, I used to watch her type sometimes. Then she went away for a summer and the computer was still in our room...

Question 2: I'm not exactly currently working on a story...but for one of the ones that's been around in my head more recently, it started with a particular scene and then I started trying to figure out the "why" behind it all. With another, it was started by a dream and one particular character who for whatever reason just really stuck out to me.

Okay, in answer to the first question, I think the biggest inspiration for me was reading when I was little, and being read to me by my parents. My Dad is a huge fan of Tolkien, and he was reading The Hobbit and the trilogy to me and my siblings when I was about 6 or 7. He also read The Chronicles of Narnia, Grimm's Fairy tales, and other things like that which really got me into fantasy/fiction. When I was 9, I think, I saw The Fellowship of the Ring and fell in love. I started writing my first book after that, but even before that, my friend and I would come up with elaborate stories and act them out in the woods behind her house, so I was always imagining things even before I started writing them.

And as for the second question, I'm working on a few things right now, some just for fun, others more seriously. It really just depends on my mood. Things I do to inspire me and get my ideas are things like walking in the woods around a small lake near my house and listening to movie soundtracks or Latin choral music, especially in the fall or on cloudy days, it's just perfect. And just going for walks in general is good thinking time for me. I also play video games for inspiration, like FFX and Skyrim. Going to the archery range provides some inspiration too. :D

Whoa! those are cool, dito on most of those inspirations. Another inspiration is my family, with 10 siblings there are so many diverse personalities to help me work on my book. Also both my parents are good writers, when they have the time to write. So sometimes I can run my work through them. My dad's really picky on the grammar and the clarity of my writing, and my mom is all about capturing the feeling, and being creative, and letting my ideas soar. Sorry I had a nostalgic moment there, moving on. Also I have my bro; you might recognize him as Khale on the forum although he hasn't visited it for a while. He and Ta'or started the thread renegade, at least that's what I think it was called. Anyway my point was that I have people only a stone's throw away to bounce my writing ideas and work off of. No local writing friends outside my fam. But I have got quite a few inspirations anyhow.
