Honestly, Christian fiction, as it is. Is GAG worthy. I was at the library the other day, and just for fun, I walked into "Inspirational Aisle" just to see if anything would catch my eye.
I saw an interesting fiction by Francine Rivers on the life of Jonathan, so thought I'd give it a go.
I also brought Inheritance by Paolini home with me that night...
Let's just say that I stayed up till three in the morning finishing the Inheritance Cycle. Several times, I have cracked the spine of the Francine Rivers book and it's AWFUL.
There is NO character development. She throws maybe 20 weird Hebrew names at you in the first chapter and then expects you to care about all of them. :P It's going back to the library unread.
:( If I ever find an exemplary piece of Christian fiction, I will devote my life to advertising it. (Well, probably not...but I'll be thrilled.)
I fear that Tolkien and C.S. Lewis will never be reincarnated. :(
