...died today.

Had I found out about this earlier I'd be writing a long...post...thing... This lady is the lady that made me want to be a writer.

I...can't actually cope with this and now I have to go to work.

...was going to ask if anyone else read her work (Dragonriders of Pern et al) but honestly, what I'd really like is if folks could send up a prayer for the Dragonlady. She was very loved and will be very missed.

OMGZ

I've actually never read any of her work, but I've heard so much about her.

She sounded like she had a relatively peaceful death, surrounded by her family.

:( aww var *hugs*

Unfortunately I've never read any of her works before. Praying for her family.

Link.

I heard from a Pern RP I'm on and was horrified. As was my mother when I told her. I've been reading Pern for years, and the fact that I RP it should be enough of an indication of my feelings on the matter.

This is what I posted on the other site, because I don't have time to write something again now:

"I had heard about Anne McCaffery's Dragonrider of Pern books from the time I was a child because my mother read them and loved them, but I never got to read them myself until I was about eleven and mom thought I was old enough. I feel in love instantly. I immediately graduated from reading children's books (Harry Potter and Animal Ark predominately) into adult books, and primarily her Dragonriders of Pern.

I was enthralled, and quickly ate through all of the books in the series that we had. It wasn't until years later that I realized there was a whole world of people out there that also loved the books (no one else I knew had ever read them, and I was fairly ignorant of the online world until high school). I discovered the world of Pern RP, and all of the lovely people here at Solaria. And for that I have to thank Anne McCaffery.

She is gone now, but she is not forgotten."
