I'm offended. This thread is completely sexist, with an obvious bias against the male gender. To think you have to be a girl to like something so much that you scream(and sometimes cry) over it. I am appalled. XD

Apologies, Sul. If you've ever read the Dresden Files you're welcome to join us. XD

@ rest of thread: Butters. XD <3

Dude, anyone who's talked fandom with me knows that when I say "fangirling" I am not discriminating based on gender. Fangirling is the unbridled love of something, characterized mostly by squee and (in person) jumping around or hugging people.

Fanboying, also a non-gender-specific term, is characterized by a competitive form of love, i.e. "you aren't a REAL fan of that; you haven't seen the super-secret director's cut version," or "well I could DESTROY you in Halo; I've done this that and the other thing."

Fangirls TEND toward fangirling, but it's not uniform. Fanboys TEND towards fanboying, but again, not uniform. Semantics, etc.

Thank you for allowing me to vent my inner fandom linguistics geek. XD

...and yet somehow YOU KILLED THE SQUEALING, SUL.

...dude, when I was talking about awesome female book characters, why didn't I think of ALMOST EVERY GIRL IN THIS SERIES?? o_O

I would so date Karrin Murphy.

I don't know. WHY DIDN'T YOU THINK OF IT? XD

Agreed. Murphy's completely amazing. I would almost definitely annoy the crap out of her, though. XD

I kind of think anyone who wouldn't annoy the crap out of Murphy at least periodically isn't really worth talking to. She only bothers to get annoyed if she knows you're capable of better.

I must say, though, I don't care for--what is her name. Harry's gf who gets vamped. She annoys the crap out of me. :P
