Dude, anyone who's talked fandom with me knows that when I say "fangirling" I am not discriminating based on gender. Fangirling is the unbridled love of something, characterized mostly by squee and (in person) jumping around or hugging people.
Fanboying, also a non-gender-specific term, is characterized by a competitive form of love, i.e. "you aren't a REAL fan of that; you haven't seen the super-secret director's cut version," or "well I could DESTROY you in Halo; I've done this that and the other thing."
Fangirls TEND toward fangirling, but it's not uniform. Fanboys TEND towards fanboying, but again, not uniform. Semantics, etc.
Thank you for allowing me to vent my inner fandom linguistics geek. XD
