Well, unless it was urban fantasy or a worldhopping story. :P But I get what you're saying. This isn't literary, but I also hate it when they use "okay" in tv shows like Merlin. I love Merlin, but that bugs me.
As for actual literary pet peeves, it really annoys me when writers make all the dialogue grammatically correct, particularly when it's not in-character. Don't get me wrong, good grammar belongs in the narrative. But come on, nobody speaks with absolutely perfect grammar, or at least nobody that doesn't sound like a snob.
