Sometimes I listen to music, but not all of the time. When I do, it's classical music because that's what I own and like. I don't think I've ever had a song/piece of music that I felt fit one of my characters before.

yes i always listen to music! (even though thats my prime distractor) i only ever had a son apply to a char like exactly and that was Once by Kaleb Kane (i pink) best song ever. it was a story about people who get reprogramed as dolls and are used as sex slaves.... prolly my second fav story i ever wrote.

#6 I'm most comfortable lying on my bed, stretched out and if I'm using a pen and paper--which I do often but I type up almost everything i write down--I somehow end up with pen ink all over the place. *blinks* not sure about that. I can write at any time, but at night(when I'm supposed to be getting some sleep) is the best time for creativity for me.

#7 Sometimes I listen to music, most often a soundtrack without lyrics if i can get one. Sometimes I find it distracting though. I remember when I was writing my nano I listened to Skillet 'Awake' every SINGLE DAY. Then I descovered Comatose and listened to that instead. I wanted something that would neergize my writing and not put me to sleep. Maybe thats how my story turned out so random.

There are a lot of songs that have 'inspired' my stories, or at least parts of them. Or I'll be listening to a song and it will suddenly strike me 'Hey, this song fits perfectly with such-and-such story!' I tend to think of story scenes as if they were part of a movie, and though I may never write down that there was a rock in that path that had a lizard sunbathing on it, or the exact way this character was standing, its all in my mind as I'm writing. So I think about songs as if my story were made into a movie, and 'that song' would have to be somewhere in the movie.

I like to listen to music, but I don't have to. Classical, but really soundtracks are best. They have so many moods to them that are just perfect for writing. For me, at least. :D

I love listening to music while I write. I love my Celtic music because I have a Celtic-esque race in my fantasy novel(s), but any good soundtrack will also do. I've often used real-life musical groups like Anuna and Moya Brennan sort of like counterparts in that world. Sometimes a certain song inspires a scene or a character, but it doesn't happen for me often.

Wow, I completely forgot to post a new one. XD My answer to the last one is pretty much the same as Rhee's; while I have playlists for pretty much every story, I can't listen to music while I'm writing. The only exception is if it's a song I know well enough that it fades into the background (the soundtrack of FFVII, for example).

But yeah, part of my writing process is actually making the playlist; that's how a story gets its sticking-power. Rin has, like, five of them. :P

QUESTION #8: What's your favorite genre to write? To read?

Lol I have a feeling I know what the answers to this one will be. XD

I don't know if I have a favorite genra to read, but I enjoy writing fantasy the most.

5 The oldest of my charries according to age is Jedidah in his 70s or so, youngest is Hadassah's son who is born three days before the story ends.
The oldest story charrie I still work with is a hybrid dragon-human named Loren, and the newest is Asa, a butterfly-man.
6. I write wherever I have the chance
7. I love connecting songs to characters, a complete list would take forever...
8. Fantasy, both of them

#1: I have to say it's the story I'm working on now. However, it's definitely a love-hate relationship. While it's my best writing to date and I love my MMC to pieces, he is a huge pain in the ass to write. And the story has changed SO much since November that it's ridiculous. I think I'm on rewrite #6 and I've completely scrapped almost everything. And I haven't even finished it once yet. But I love it because I feel like my writing has gotten exponentially better and my characters aren't carbon copies of each other and aren't shallow. I also love it because it's really challenging my mind ^.^

#2: Umm.... too many to count overall. Definitely well over a hundred. As for male v. female, I feel like I write females better and I have definitely had more female main chars. Just because they were easy for me. I feel like I suck at writing guys. But I'm challenging myself and writing from the guy's perspective in the one I'm working on now.

#3: I look on baby naming sites and search for one that feels right. Which usually takes FOREVER. I almost never have a name just come to me. It also depends on their culture. If they're Mexican, I look for names used in Mexico. As for fictional places and names, I make up my own almost always by putting letters together until I find something appropriate.

#4: My very first story was in the third grade. It was 1 sheet of paper, front and back, about a fictional trip my family took to Niagara Falls. There was a loon in the water and it talked to me. When we got back to the hotel, my fictional dad said that it was "very mysterious" with mysterious spelled very wrong. Unfortunately I don't have the story =/

#5: Youngest agewise - Isabel at 1.5 years. She is not a character anymore. Oldest agewise - One of my characters had an old grandma in one of my stories.
Youngest created - Valentín. He was created randomly about a week ago when my MMC needed someone besides his 8 year old sister to talk to. Oldest created (not including the loon story) - Arthur from a horrible Kind Arthur thing I did back in like 6th grade.

#6: In my room on my comp in the evening. For whatever reason, my mind doesn't like writing during the day no matter how much I try to make it

#7: I listen to music most of the time. Usually it's a mix of just about everything. I do relate songs or parts of them to my characters' lives and I make note of it so I won't forget why it's in the playlist lol. Sometimes though, listening to music is a distraction and I HAVE to turn it off. But even when I have it playing, I almost always tune it out unless a phrase sticks with me

#8: To write: romance, contemporary, dealing with problems type stuff. I fail epically at fantasy and sci-fi even though I want to write it, i can't get far enough in. Trust me, I've tried endlessly.
To read: I'm really picky. I love romance though. However, if I don't like the writing style or if I feel the character's a shallow, I hate whatever book I've picked up. I'll read almost any genre though, so long as it is written well. I've also been on a recent kick of reading stuff about Mexico and illegal immigration and all that fun stuff, mostly from the Mexican viewpoint.

Whew! Done. Answered them all and I'm really sorry it's SO long.
