I'm actually quite glad the Brisingr is going to be a lot more "religious."

A few things.

Eragon meets a God. (Probably Hvelzog, the Dwarven one) Thus the stupid elven athiests are wrong.

Spirits aren't deceased ghosts or w/e, they're just a species of... well, animal? Being? Something. (Christopher Paolini said this in an interview... I'll try and find it)

Hmmm.. I have a few other things, but I forgot what I was gonna say. ><

I know, I thought that was good too. Eldest was a little too "God doesn't exist" for my liking, escpecially, whe Sapphira suggested that it was just something to comfort you.

Guys, Paolini himself is an atheist, and he's rather fond of touting his own beliefs in the books. So I wouldn't hold your breath on the "god" thing. More than likely, Eragon will meet a supposed god, only to have said god inform him that actually s/he's not a god at all.

He loves his elves; he's not going to prove them wrong.

...And can I just say, that attitude annoys me terribly. I should be saying "Well, even if you think atheism is stupid, there might not be any gods in Paolini's world, so it might not be stupid there." Which is valid (although the presence of magic and ignorance of physics make it kind of odd that anyone would be an atheist, imo). But instead I'm arguing that Paolini is an atheist, so it's likely the atheist characters are correct.

Stupid.

A fantasy world should have beliefs and religions that make sense for that world, regardless of whether they line up with the author's.

I never said athiests are stupid, I just said the elves are stupid.

"stupid elven athiests" I guess that kind of implies that.

Where has Paolini said he's an athiest?

I don't know, but I don't think that a world filled with magic, and that sort of thing, would be godless. It just doesn't seem like it fits with the world.

>>Where has Paolini said he's an athiest?

Y'know, I'd thought I read it in an interview, but now I can't seem to find said interview. I do know that his parents used to be a part of this cult, and eventually left, and given that background I find it likely that they might raise their kids to be anti-religion--but that's just assumption.

If I do find the link, I'll let you know.

>>I don't think that a world filled with magic, and that sort of thing, would be godless

Nah, I totally agree--that's what I was trying to say, earlier. I mean, the elves don't have any alternate explanation for their magic, and the science of the world isn't very developed; in any analogous society on earth, you'd find a lot of very religious people.

An audio book would be the best thing ever!!! But it would have to be read by someone really really good 'cause I love the books and I'm VERY picky about someone's voice. Most people I've heard audio books (and our family own no exageration about 50) read by lots of people. But I only like a couple voices. My alltime favorite voices are:
#1 Nadia May with Blackstone Audiobooks (my fav AB company)
#2 Joana Ward with Blackstone Audiobooks
#3 Jim Weiss with a lot of companies (look him up. He tells his own short stories and stuff. Excelent!)

But none of those would I trust with reading BotB. Not sure who I think has a good voice for that. I'll have to do some digging.

WE COULD DO IT! LOL! But seriously, if forum people got together to do it that would be really fun!

I'm a fan of Nathaniel Parker, m'self--he does the Artemis Fowl books, among other things. Oh, and Jim Dale is amazing, of course. XD Personally I'm partial to British men.

I totally agree with Min's idea, though. I vote we get a full cast together; there's enough of us. I'll narrate if no one else wants to. :D

LOL! My parents might not like it if I stated at the dinner table, "I'm going to go get together with a bunch of people you've never met, and make an audio book." XD That would take a lot of explaining, and I'd never be allowed.
