Shadow in the Deep
Book ll ended with Valzaan being killed and the destruction of Col Marena. Aljerion and his army are on a whole bunch of ships out in the bay, watching as Col Marena is burned to the ground. He and the captains meet together and he tells them the Valzaan wanted him to find Sulmindir, and he has decided to undertake the quest. He leaves the army in the hands of Caan, and Gilion. For this quest Aljeron takes, Kosti, Saegan, Evrim, and two Great Bear, Erigan and Arintol. He also decides to go back to Col Marena to see if he can find any survivors.
Caan leads the army in a march to Amaan Sul, and Sarneth is going to see what Great Bear he can rouse for the fight against Malek.
Aljeron finds two soldiers of his own, Tornan and Karras. And much to his surprise they find Synoki, alive and well, but bearing a tale that he has lost everything in the fires. Synoki also says he's a merchant now. Aljeron reluctantly agrees to let Synoki come along and Synoki also brings along a "friend" named Cinjan. claims to know the Nolthanan lands, and agrees to help them as the travel. You find out though that a Vulsiterian named Varatyr is sent after them.
Meanwhile the rain keeps flooding Kirthanin and you find out Malek has unleashed a new beast called the Kumatin. Several cities have been flooded, then destroyed by this sea creature, and it is now loose on the rivers. Benjiah has Allfather tell him that four people need to come together and then they may defeat Malek. He manages to convince, the Great Bear, then goes to a Dragon Tower with Padraal and Padraan to light a beacon. he kills the grendolia up there and lights the beacon. He speculates on who the fourth race can be. Two dragons come and he summons them to fight, only 5 decided to help them though.
In the series of events that happened up north while Aljeron is going to Harek Andunin, Tornan, Karras, and Arintol, died. Two died fighting off the Giant. As time goes on it becomes apparent that Cinjin and Synoki aren't what they seem, and it became clear when Cinjin tried to kill Aljeron. He however was mauled by Kosti. Synoki, through quick words managed to keep them from killing him too, but he was one thin ice and he knew it. Synoki was mad a Cinjin for disrupting his plans for Aljeron's intiment death, and decided to bid his time. He needed to know who the child or prophecy was.
Things are going ill for Caan's army, and through a miraculous display of Allfather's power, Benjiah kept back all of Malek's army, giving the good guys time to get across the river. he however was not so fortunate and was captured, and put into Rulalin's care.
The book ends with Aljeron making it to Harek Andunin and meeting a strange man and saying, "it's can't be.
and I seriously don't have time to do book four right now....
