Honestly, Is Binding of the Blade THAT great of a series?

Okay dudes, i expect to get roasted for this, but seriously, why does everybody here seem to worship them? His writing style is long and winded, he packs his books full of pointless information, like in the 4th book, all that krap about Joriaem's dad, WHO CARES??? no offense, but really...it was like a hundred pages totalled about soemthing that i didn't care about...he waits till book 4 to decide he wants to do something with joriaems dad? to me it sounds like pointless filler...

Like he wanted to beaf the books up...honestly, with a lot of the pointless stuff taken out, making the pace go faster, this would work much better as a trilogy...

with every book except the first one, i find myself groaning and whishing the book would just end...

anyway, happy roasting!!!

So, the BotB administrator has been more than co-operative with me and others now, so i retract what i had on my sig, but leave the picture because i, well, think it looks pretty cool...

lol

First of all, I think BOTB is an AWESOME series!

Second of all, although I haven't read the fourth book, I think it would be neat that he put Joraeim's(sp?) dad back in the story. If you are constantly adding new chars to a book, it keeps it exciting. Whereas if you stick with the same ones throughtout the whole series, it could get kind of boring. (just speculating here :P) And since Jory's dad has been introduced to us already, its a little different.

Third, although I do have to admit that L.B. is not the best of writers, he is very good. Also, I think he does an excellent job of incorporating Christian allegory and sybolism into his books, which makes them more enjoyable for me, and also deeper and more interesting. I worship neither him, nor his books, but I certainly do enjoy them. A lot. :)

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I don't worship those books. In fact I agree with you for the most part. Personally I think some of his things are pointless, that he has seriously copied LotR. I felt that way with Valzaan and with the girl Aljeron liked. His books aren't anything new, but we humans are sickos for a good story, and all of us are still on the edge of our seat waiting to see how it will end. i think allot of things are copyed, nothing new, but then what is? Almost every book out there is based after one of the great precedents in fantasy. We don't worship the new ones, but we enjoy it about as much as if it was origenal becuase each book does have something new, if we are willing to look for it. I think the BotB series is pretty good, if copied. And I hope to see new works from him.

yeah, obviously i didn't mean worship as in God since some of us claim to be Christians...

yeah..I do think it's an awlful lot like LotR but then Eragon's like Star Wars and Harry Potter is like another series out there. It's nothing new but it's a fresh story with fresh perspective. That makes it great.

I agree with Shaut'ol. A new perspective can make an old story much better, and LB does have a new perspective. You are at least right about Monias. I got a little bored with his journey. why do you post on the forum though if you hate the series so much.

hmm... well I don't worship the series, but i do really like them. I think it seems to be more like, if all this happened in reality, this is how people would react. We all wouldn't run to a dragon and fly into battle y'know. Admittingly, I did get a little bored with Monais, but I think it'll be important later. You never know.

As for BotB being like LotR, LotR did pretty much everything y'know. Like, what didn't Tolkien do? He had TALKING TREES, a random guy that sang about his YELLOW BOOTS, ROUND DOORS, freaky guys in black, elves and dwarves (BotB doesn't have that!), and super short people in the book. It's hard not to cover something he's done. Seriously now. Gotta admit, the Great Bear, Grendolai, Malikim and whatnot were toatally original.

Yea. You got that right. I think its kinda cool that L.B. had neither dwarves nor elves, since a lot of fantasy books have either one or both, usually.
